Morpho

Examples

Real Life Examples

Basics

  • Morpho modifies other markings, making them brightly colored and dramatically iridescent.
  • In your ketucari’s genotype, morpho is represented by “nMo” (heterozygous) or “MoMo” (homozygous)
  • In its heterozygous form, morpho has a passrate of 15%. Homozygous morpho has a passrate of 40%

Color and Shape

Morpho does not display on its own, but may modify any one marking to make it a bright, vivid color instead of following its usual color rules. Morpho can be a single color, or a two-toned gradient. Morpho also causes iridescence to display in the affected area- this should be more bold and dramatic than Shimmer, but should not be textured like Vapor.

However, when affecting a marking with multiple differently-colored sections (such as Gecko’s interior, Lacing’s halo, or Tar Pit displaying in multiple shades), each section can be colored independently of each other.

Morpho restricted to Lacing, showing iridescence hue shifts

Morpho restricted to Charring, showing a two-color gradient and iridescence.

Morpho restricted to Tar Pit with two shades, showing a different color choice for each layer.

Range

Morpho can only be restricted to one of the markings below. It shares the range of the marking it’s restricted to.

Interaction with Other Markings

  • Morpho may restrict the modified color to one of the following markings. If the ketucari does not have any of these markings, morpho will not be visible. It can still be carried and passed onto this ketucari’s offspring, however.

  • Jovian and Morpho can affect the same marking, allowing up to three distinct hues to be used within Jovian, and shades of those hues to be used as long as the total does not exceed the five-color limit. Additionally, an iridescent or metallic effect can optionally be applied to any or all of the tones used in the marking. In addition, for layered markings, each section can take a different palette, similarly to unmodified Morpho.

Accents

A marking affected by Morpho can have a gradient like below:
