Relationships
Relatives: Oreki (mother), Asli (full brother), Seijalka, Arevalous, Kalet (half-siblings), Shura (mate)
Asli: Created to be the opposite of his brother and to undo everything Asli has made, the two naturally hate each other. They share a waking/hibernation cycle and are always active at the same time. When Velukaelo was young, their skirmishes were far more violent and destructive. In recent wake cycles, their battles have become less shows of strength and more battles of strategy and wit. Though they spend all their time fighting in some form or another, the two have shown that they can unite against a common enemy as seen in the Machine War. Asli and Anti temporarily combined their forces to defeat Aterrin, but afterward Asli used the distraction to rob Anti of his third eye, thereby disabling him.
Ohen: Ohen is a demi-god who a gravely injured Anti had to bind himself to in order to survive after Asli double-crossed him and took his third eye after the Machine War. She is responsible for setting Anti free from his most recent dormant state. She is the daughter of Ezekiel, son of Kohtoyasa. Her mother is from the otherworld to which Velukaelo is linked. Weakened to the point that he was a noncorporeal entity, Anti managed to sink his claws into Ohen's soul as a parasite after possessing her pregnant mother while she was learning to walk the spirit world under Zarakali's tutelage. This did not go unnoticed by the Titans, Asli, or Kohtoyasa, who reacted by carefully monitoring Ohen's mother Lasair, and then Ohen after she was born. As a result of Anti's negative influence, Ohen was born incredibly weak and frail. Runic henna (the same ancient symbols used to bind Zarakali's magic) were regularly applied to the infant, along with various talismans, to help minimize Anti's hold on her. Though she grew up handicapped by the parasitic relationship, Ohen managed to be a fairly normal person as far as anyone could tell. It wasn't until she was a teenager that she began to be able to interact with Anti in her own head, much to the alarm of her family. Ohen, however, was not at all disturbed by the demonic attachment and appeared mentally equipped to handle him, viewing him as something of a companion (albeit one who provided a constant sarcastic and morbid commentary on everything she saw).
By the time she reached adulthood, Ohen had spent years learning ways to manage her condition and seemed to have developed affectionate feelings toward Anti. Inevitably, however, she reached the point where she longed to have a life of her own, out from under the watchful eyes of the other gods and hopefully to allow her body a chance to recover from years of illness so that she could start a family with her mate. After searching for ways to separate herself from Anti and being told it wasn't possible, Ohen eventually came to the revelation that the gods were taking advantage of the situation by using her as a prison for Anti. Having suspected as much, Anti used her sense of betrayal to his advantage. Ohen allowed him to begin manifesting portions of his power through her by discreetly breaking the seals placed on her body to keep him weakened. Like this, they tried to find Anti's third eye in the hopes that doing so could finally allow him to form his own body. Ohen's actions were eventually discovered by her family, who challenged her motives and temporarily convinced her to stop what she was doing. After all, keeping Anti contained was for the greater good.
As they would soon find out, Ohen hadn't given up on her and Anti's goal. She merely formulated a new plan. For the sake of brevity, Ohen ultimately enlisted ketucari and the help of a rising warlord named Murdoen to torture and mass murder low-ranking gods and demons (mostly those found in rural areas with few followers). Using her skill in magic and abilities as a demi-god, Ohen compressed the energy of the victims as well as the essences of their final agony to create a new eye for Anti as a last-ditch effort to free herself from him. And to both their surprise, it worked. It wasn't until after Anti was able to form his own body that he realized Ohen had betrayed him, in a sense, by using part of her own soul in the creation of the eye as a facilitator for emotion which Anti had never felt before. She hoped that this would confuse him and keep him from wreaking as much havoc as he had in the past, even if it was just temporary. Her plan was immediately effective and the disoriented Anti retreated to his palace. Ohen paid a heavy price, physically and mentally, for her exertions. She was taken away by the other gods shortly after and has not be publicly seen since the ordeal and is presumably being punished for her actions.
Shura: Shura is a demon goddess from the otherworld that Anti met while imprisoned inside of Ohen. While he could not manifest physically at the time, he was able to interact with Shura whenever Ohen walked the spirit world where Shura also resided. Anti originally had no intention of ever involving himself with Shura, but she was quite insistent that he be hers. Anti, having never experienced such attentions, strongly resisted before giving up out of sheer boredom and allowing Shura to get close to him. Though Anti eventually found enjoyment in her company being that they had similar "interests", he was not able to develop a true bond with her until after receiving a piece of Ohen's soul gave him the capacity (however small) for such emotions. Shura is the only person Anti has ever loved. She lives with him in his palace and he frequently brings her the spoils from his conquests. Strangely, Shura is actually on goods terms with Kohtoyasa. Because it is the interest of her relationship with Anti that he keeps his current eye, Shura volunteered to help hide his old eye and is the only person besides Kohto who knows where it is. Anti has no idea that the person closest to him is the holder of his old eye.
Shadowset: Shadowset is one of Anti's minions. Though Anti is repulsed by the creatures known as sets, his mate Shura adores them. In an attempt to reach a middle ground, Anti attempted to create a set he could live with for her. Unfortunately, he botched it due to his conflicting nature with the animals and the two-headed, brachycephalic, stump-legged Shadowset was made. So named because he initially had no real body and resembled a shadow of a set, Shadowset was loved by Shura in spite of his appearance. Anti sees him as an embarrassment and at first only kept him around for Shura's sake. It wasn't until Shadowset proved intelligent and capable of speech that Anti decided he might as well make use of him. Shadowset is now of Anti's closest henchmen, serving as something akin to a butler and messenger.
Guro: The domain guardian of Antikutan was actually created from a piece of Anti's true body which, like the other sovereigns, is too immense and potentially damaging to be looked upon by mortals and lower gods. Guro was made for the express purpose of guarding Antikutan, though Anti sometimes removes him and uses him as a weapon of war. Guro has smaller counterparts named Paezhuri and Hintae, both who spend most of their time guarding Anti's palace. It is worth noting that none of these entities had names until Shura, who has a strange sense of humor, named them herself.
Notable Relationships
Oreki: Anti's mother is the only person who he truly fears. He knows she is perfectly capable of killing him and the only reason she doesn't is because she enjoys his conflict with Asli. On rare occasions where she's bothered to return to Velukaelo, she enjoys unexpectedly dropping in on Anti, as well as his brother, in order to remind them just how weak they are compared to her.Asli: Created to be the opposite of his brother and to undo everything Asli has made, the two naturally hate each other. Alignment: Neutral evil (Notoriety)
Personality: Anti is almost single-minded in his attempts to destroy his brother's creations. This is his one purpose in life and he doesn't question it. Everything he does is to further this agenda. History
The story of Anti's creation can be found in World Lore. For an as of yet unknown reason, Oreki compressed the anguish and suffering of both Asli and his incomplete creations into a single weak point on Anti's forehead: the third eye from which he draws much of his power. It is said that, similar to how the cycle of reincarnation keeps Asli alive due to his soul being fragmented around Velukaelo, the eye is what keeps Anti alive. Although Anti cannot maintain a corporeal body without the eye, it is unknown how to destroy it and him permanently. Asli has tried several times to destroy it to no avail. Like Asli, Anti goes through periods of being active and dormant. They length of these instances depend on how much and how quickly they tax each other's powers. Sometimes, they may nearly succeed in destroying one another and have to hibernate for centuries before they reappear. In active periods, they may not always be outright battling but undermine each other in more subtle ways until one of them makes a decisive move. Times in which Anti is active are called scourges. These periods are always characterized by his demons running wild and wreaking havoc throughout Velukaelo as well as an increase in political unrest-- often resulting in skirmishes and/or wars between villages, small provinces, and even entire countries.
