Relationships

Relatives: Oreki (mother), Anti (full brother), Seijalka, Arevalous, Kalet (half-siblings), Kohtoyasa (daughter), Ryno (dog)

Notable Relationships

Oreki: Asli's mother is the only person who he truly fears. He knows she is perfectly capable of killing him and the only reason she doesn't is because she enjoys his conflict with Anti. On rare occasions where she's bothered to return to Velukaelo, she enjoys unexpectedly dropping in on Asli, as well as his brother, in order to remind them just how weak they are compared to her.

Anti: As Anti was created to be the opposite of his brother and to undo everything Asli has made, the two naturally hate each other. They share a waking/hibernation cycle and are always active at the same time. When Velukaelo was young, their skirmishes were far more violent and destructive. In recent wake cycles, their battles have become less shows of strength and more battles of strategy and wit. Though they spend all their time fighting in some form or another, the two have shown that they can unite against a common enemy as seen in the Machine War. Asli and Anti temporarily combined their forces to defeat Aterrin, but afterward Asli used the distraction to rob Anti of his third eye, thereby disabling him.

Ryno: Asli was Ryno's owner at one time. She was a stray dog who persistently followed him when he was living a life disguised as a mortal while healing from wounds caused by Anti. When his efforts to shoo her away failed, he grudgingly accepted her into his life and soon grew to love her. She stayed by his side until old age began to take its hold on her. Asli, while recognizing that it was wrong to favor her over other mortals, couldn't stand the thought of losing her and essentially granted her immortality by turning her into a god.

Kohtoyasa: Kohto is Asli's daughter with a mortal woman. Though he wasn't present every day of her childhood, he did visit Kohto enough that she was well aware of her divine ancestry. When she was a preteen, Asli arranged for her to go live on Mount Vitian and learn how to control her power with the teachings of the titans. As he was coming upon a period of hibernation, he could not do this himself. Though he missed out on a large part of Kohto's early life due to his dormant period, Asli later reconnected with her and built a relationship with her. He loves Kohto dearly.

Personality

Alignment: Neutral good (Honor)
Personality: When he isn't fighting or plotting against his brother, Asli is an even-tempered and serene god. He is intelligent and curious and is loyal to those close to him. He is fascinated by mortals and enjoys disguising himself to walk among them and observe their daily life whenever he gets a chance. He is a natural born leader and manages to keep even the most fearsome of his underlings in line. Recently, Asli has developed a somber air about him, likely due to mental and emotional exhaustion over having to fight his brother over and over.

History

Asli's story can be found in World Lore. Like Anti, Asli goes through periods of being active and dormant. They length of these instances depend on how much and how quickly they tax each other's powers. Sometimes, they may nearly succeed in destroying one another and have to hibernate for centuries before they reappear. In active periods, they may not always be outright battling but undermine each other in more subtle ways until one of them makes a decisive move. Times in which Anti is active are called scourges. These periods are always characterized by his demons running wild and wreaking havoc throughout Velukaelo as well as an increase in political unrest-- often resulting in skirmishes and/or wars between villages, small provinces, and even entire countries.
