It is suspected that Nanai has a mate and children, but she if she does she is very secretive about it. Nanai has no known monumental relationships as she prefers to roam the ocean on her own.

Personality: Nanai is just as unpredictable and brutal as the waters she patrols. Though she can sometimes be playful and even helpful toward those she comes across, it is generally wise to stay out of her way. She is also curious about new things that appear in her waters.

    Far from elusive, Nanai tends to appear anywhere there's a big commotion. Nanai's presence is seen as a good omen to some, while others fear her temper may take a sudden turn and result in a sunken vessel. Unlike her western counterpart Dylana, Nanai isn't open to negotiation when she has cause to believe someone is taking too many liberties with the sea's resources. It isn't known how exactly Nanai came to be, only that she is very old and at one time ruled both the western and eastern oceans before giving some of her burden to the younger goddess Dylana.

Nanai has been monumental shaping the advancements of water vessels and fishing methods in Velukaelo. Due her curiosity, a surefire way to get her to appear is to bring a new type of vessel into the sea. Almost as if the ocean itself alerts her, it is known the world around that she will always come to investigate. Ships that meet her approval are allowed to stay afloat, while those she dislikes will be broken into smithereens. She has also been know to destroy unsustainable fishing set-ups. While many view her as a nuisance, there are just as many people who treat it as a point of pride to not have their things destroyed by Nanai-- a sign that they are doing something right.
