Before you can partake in battles, you must first learn a couple of skills to use. You can find the full list of skills and how to earn them here: Magic and Skills

Ketucari vs. Environment (KvE) Battles

Takeaway Meal by tatiilange
KvE battles are a chance for your ketucari to prove their worth against monsters! Keep in mind that your work does not necessarily have to depict your ketucari actively engaged in battle - planning, aftermath, or even simply gazing lazily at the creature you're thinking of hunting would work, so long as both are depicted according to the requirements!

Steps

1. After you've learned a couple of skills, you can begin taking part in battles! To initiate a battle, visit a zone page and see which monsters are available for battle. Choose your opponent carefully - each creature does different damage and provides different challenges. Some monsters may prove a challenge if your ketucari has no (or low) Strength, Dexterity, or remaining Armor! While multiple ketucari can be drawn battling, they will each face the creature one vs one. Once you've chosen an opponent, you will have to create a piece that meets the following requirements in order to initiate the battle:

Submissions should meet our minimum submission requirements, found HERE.

2.  When you are done with your piece, place this filled out form in the submission comments section for the KvE Battle Prompt.

Skill 4:
Skill 5:
Permission to Revive: Yes/No (If your ketucari reaches 0 or below over the course of the battle, if you marked Yes, the admin will use meat chunks in your inventory to restore your ketucari to health. This means that if at the end of the battle your ketucari is at -100 health, we will use the equivalent of 10 Chunks of Meat from your hoard. If you do not have the appropriate items, your ketucari will be at a negative health and unable to participate in activities! If there is a specific item you would like for us to use instead, you may specify here as well.)

Giving permission to revive will let an admin take the lowest level and necessary amounts of Chunks of Meat in your Hoard and apply it to your ketucari, restoring their armor back into positive numbers and allowing them to continue to participate in activities without having to apply the item yourself. This means that if at the end of the battle your ketucari is at -100 health, we will use the equivalent of 10 Chunks of Meat from your hoard. If you do not have the appropriate items, your ketucari will be at a negative health and unable to participate in activities! If there is a specific item you would like for us to use instead, you may specify here as well.

Upon being rolled, the piece will be linked on your ketucari's Battle Log (on their import), and you'll find out whether they faced Defeat (a loss) or Victory (a win). All items from the battle will be automatically added to your bank account.

Ketucari vs. Ketucari (KvK) Battles

Father Versus Son by IIIXKitsuneXIII  Brawl by onisyra

KvK battles are a chance for your ketucari to fight against other ketucari! To initiate a battle, you can use two of your own ketucari OR find someone who doesn't mind you using their ketucari!

Submissions should meet our minimum submission requirements, found HERE.

When you are done with the piece, place this filled out form for both Ketucaris in the artist's description and submission comments section for the KvK Battle Prompt

Submission Corrections
If an admin requests a correction with your submission and moves it to the corrections folder, please submit the fixed piece over the old one. This can be done by hitting "edit" on the deviation page, uploading the fixed version, and hitting  save. Alternatively, you may place the corrected piece in the artist's description of the old piece. Admins will go over corrections periodically to see if the requested changes have been made. If so, they will go ahead and roll your pieces like normal. Pieces that have been in the corrections folder for over a month without being fixed will be removed from the folder and will need to be resubmitted.

How Battles Work

Each battle has 3 "turns". Basically, each turn involves an admin rolling to see how much damage your ketucari has done against their opponent and vice versa. For each turn, you will be selecting a skill to use that your ketucari has learned, or a potion to boost your chances. Admins will take in to account any armor or permanent boosters on your ketucari's import page.

The outcome of the battle is based on which party has done the most damage (your ketucari or their opponent). The exception to this is when your armor is lower than the total amount of damage the enemy deals to you - if, during the course of the battle, the enemy knocks your armor into the negative numbers, you will lose, no matter how much damage you dealt to the enemy. Regardless of the outcome, however much damage the monster has done against your ketucari will be deducted from the overall armor on their import. Winning battles can be quite profitable, as item and gold drop rates from battles are higher than those in Adventuring.

In addition to winning animal products, such as meats, claws, and bones, as well as other miscellaneous crafting items (whose uses you may look up in the Ingredient Codex), you can also win an Offering! Offerings are used in the Hallowed Tarn for resurrections - please see the Hallowed Tarn page for more information!

Strategy

Battles are meant to be simple and straight forward, but you may want to incorporate some strategy into them depending on what skills your ketucari has. It is best to include at least one attack that dose physical damage. If you choose to use status effect skills, however, it is best to use them in the first turn to give your ketucari the best possible chance at winning.

On the zone pages, you can click on the monsters to see what they drop and what damage they do per turn. Be sure to pay attention to damage, especially if you have low armor, as some do more than others. Make sure your ketucari has enough armor remaining to withstand their assault, otherwise you are unlikely withstand the encounter!
