Every moment of her life has been planned. Her parents conceived her litter in hopes of the perfect kadin to take over against the Matriarch of their pack. There was no time for cubhood. As a cub, she was attached to her Littermate, one of the survivors of the first culling. Then one day he disappeared. Things were Never Quite The Same after that.

She was a weak cub, but the strongest in the pack--generations of the Matriarch picking the pairs that were allowed to breed that decade and culling any and all cubs outside of that period--had left the pack weak. Orlaith's parents explained this. Her mother assured her that she could change that, she just had to grow big and strong, not let her wobble stop her, or the pain in her bones. She had to be good, and strong, and she could change the pack. She was the Only one who could. The only kadin pretty enough, the only kadin Worthy enough. The Matriarch was old. All she had to do was defeat her and the pack would be hers.

She was taught how to lead. What the pack valued. Strength. Beauty. Confidence. Beauty. She was taught how to Command and be Listened to. Who was Worth listening to.
"A toa is a tool." the Matriarch told her once, leading her to the handsome lintosi she'd chosen for her. "They exist to be used."
Orlaith spent the rest of the week wondering about her lost brother.
Only kadin were worth her ears. Toas were to speak only if spoken to.
Her aunt's litter was all toas. Strong, healthy, beautiful little things from a passing fantail.
They weren't what the Matriarch was looking for. "Bad blood." she said, while Mother cleaned the crimson from Orlaith's paws.

Orlaith is a tired and weary kadin who masks it behind pride and power. She currently leads a multi-continent spanning pack with strict rules and a tight power structure. Despite her rigorous upbringing, Orlaith maintains an incredible imagination--that has unfortunately led to her imagining all of the ways her pack could turn against her. As a result she spends surprisingly little time with the pack itself, favoring the company of a plain-seeming kadin from outside the pack.

She is incredibly unsocialized, having been raised and trained purely to usurp the throne of her previous Matriarch. The only real socialization she has had were her brothers before one was culled and the other vanished, and the rigorous lessons with other kadin of her birth year. More recently, she has added the plain-seeming kadin.

While she isn't really aware of it, due to her pack refusing to acknowledge such things as as actual things that happen, Orlaith also suffers from a small myriad of issues; Dyskenesia in the form of invuluntary muscle spasms, A lack of balance, Severe Generalized Anxiety Disorder, osteoperosis and arthritis, Depression , and multiple layers of PTSD.
