Ruairi has not had an easy life. After being sold into slavery at a young age, he was "rescued" by the Talons of Dusk, and found a new "home" with them. He was quickly trained into one of the pack's best covert operatives, never daring to question what he was being told. It was only once he started to have contact with others outside the pack that he started to realize there was another kind of life out there other than the Talons' harsh and unforgiving (and not to mention controlling) ways. 

When an old acquaintance offered him the chance to get out, he took it. Now on his own, he's doing the best he can to learn how to live for himself for the first time in his life. It's not easy-- his experiences haven't left him well-equipped for a normal life or normal relationships. Manipulation and control feels safer than true vulnerability, but that's not the person he wants to be anymore. 

On the outside, he's a charming sort who will flirt with practically anyone, but maintains relationships with few. He carries himself like some kind of idealized knight in shining armor... which he legitimately aspires to, but it's mostly an act to cover up for his deep self-hatred and insecurities. He's a quick talker with a silver tongue and charm to spare, and plenty of bite to back it up when he needs it. Prefers to stack the deck in his favor over a straight fight whenever possible. While he puts on airs of leadership, he's rarely the one actually in charge. His greatest fear is that when he manages to find his way through all the masks, facades, defenses, and other lies he tells himself and others... there's nothing there worth saving. Trying to make peace with his pain and come to terms with the wrongs he's done.

Currently working for a mysterious patron as a... well, let's just say "information gathering specialist". The work isn't that different from what he was doing as a Talon, but his new boss is looking out for him in a way he's never really had before and he sleeps better at night. When not on the job, can often be found travelling with a recently rekindled old flame.
