Marquis of Eglantine, beloved technical bastard of Duke Desrosiers and the noble knight Bran. Raised alongside his beloved sister to jointly rule Eglantine once Desrosiers passes or steps down, Tristan is a shrewd and skilled social navigator... with one critical flaw.
He has severe social anxiety.

This anxiety is the exact reason he is so quick to pay compliments to and flirt with anyone who will bend an ear to him--advice he received from Desrosiers as a youngster, and it was adopted quickly and with fervor.
As such, Tristan can usually be found smiling and laughing his way through even the grimmest situations, offering kind words to all he meets and romantic overtures to anyone who will pay him the time of day.  He's swift thinking, observant and shrewd and uses these skills to navigate the complex social landscape of Selphia as a whole, and Eglantine's noble courts in particular.

However, the smiles and compliments are, typically, hollow. Behind the smile he is filled with anger and terror, and when someone forces their way past the friendly mask they quickly find that Tristan has very sharp teeth that he uses liberally and swiftly and with little to no warning. He'll throw claws and vicious verbal barbs in every chance he gets, as well. When compliments and flirting don't work 'correcty', Tristan falls back on picking fights instead, as well.
He will sometimes attempt to taunt and tease and banter, but he's terrible at selecting targets who are open to that.

 

Tristan was trained from a young age how to lead the dutchy, but given that his sister clearly had things like actually managing the nobility and handling tactics covered, Tristan turned his attention to the Other important aspects of leading. Warfare and how to lead and how to fight, both skills he learned from the best of the best.
Between rigorous lessons, he practiced several arts--drawing, dancing, and a ketucari-made stringed instrument not dissimilar to a guqin--or assisted Bran in his tasks around the castle, always trying to keep himself busy and moving, dashing out to town whenever he could find time to learn about the people he would one day rule--the people he would one day serve--and get to know them, their lives, and their harships, information he would then relay to his sister to plan for the betterment of their Dutchy.

From a young age, he's also been quite close to the foreign prince Taliesin, and Marchioness Calista, with them and Marchioness Adelaide being near inseperable as they tackle the noble world together, forge a new sign language to help work past a young Tristan's severe selective mutism as a cub, and go on to become adults.
Tristan would do anything for any of them.
Particularly Calista. He adores the Marchioness and goes out of his way to spend time with her whenever he isn't busy with all of his duties and lessons.

 

Angry and bitey as he can be, Tristan will also be the first to throw himself on a sword for another's benefit--his People, his Loved Ones--are people he feels he must protect at any cost to himself.
