As the son of Amrita and Avanti, Soma has not just spent his whole life in the Talons-- he was raised with the expecation that, if something happened to the Matriarchs, the pack would be his to lead.  Quite frankly, it shows. Manipulative, vindictive, cruel, and entitled are all words that could be used to describe him. He's not incapable of caring-- he takes his duties to the pack very seriously, and is more than capable of laying on the charm when need be. However, he's vicious, temperamental, and holds a grudge when he feels wronged. Trusts no one but his immediate family, and even that's a little shaky. Has a very transactional view of the world and especially relationships-- to be honest, he's got no clue what a healthy one would even look like.  He'd probably still be unpleasant even if he hadn't been raised by a couple of cult leaders, but taking his parents' philosophy to heart really didn't do him any favors.
